Investing in Your Community
The success of the
legal resource centre will rely tremendously on community support and
sponsorship. The funding that SFWSS receives from the Law Foundation of
British Columbia will continue to fund the Legal Information &
Advocacy Program and South Asian Legal Educator at a cost of $108,000.00
per year. The Trauma Counselling Program will contribute $45,000.00 per
year so that one Trauma Counsellor will be available at the Legal
Centre. With
those costs contributed from SFWSS, the centre will still require
$85,000.00 per year to cover the operational costs, and hiring a Legal
information Worker. We are looking for the community’s generous support
in raising funds so that we can open the centre and maintain the
centre’s sustainability until we are able to apply for provincial or
other capital funding. Your sponsorship dollars will
enable us to provide an invaluable service in the form of legal
information, advocacy, and resources to families of the Fraser Valley.
